klr Planning Ltd was established in 2014 by Karen Read.
A results-driven planning consultancy, klr Planning advises on securing planning consents for a wide range of companies wishing, or needing, to use the town planning system.
The wide range of prestigious projects Karen has led on over recent years includes the regeneration of Gateshead town centre a £112 million project, and the £15 million refurbishment of Monument Mall in the heart of Newcastle city.
Karen started her career as a planning consultant with Roger Tym and Partners in Manchester where she assisted with the economic case for the extension of the Metrolink Tram line to Eccles via Salford Quays and the City of Manchester Stadium (also known as the Etihad Stadium).
She also worked for Development Planning Partnership (DPP) with a range of clients including Tesco Stores Ltd securing permissions for large format stores.
Karen moved to the North East in 2002 to work at law firm Muckle LLP where she established a track record in the region acting for Dysart Developments, Project Genesis Ltd, Newcastle and Northumbria University’s and City of Sunderland College amongst others.
In 2007 Karen returned to DPP to set up and lead the North East office before moving to Signet Planning as a Regional Director in 2011. Karen is a Chartered Town Planner and a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and has a BA (Hons) in Economic Development and Planning.
